Never Too Late. After 9 decades of illiteracy, James Arruda Henry, a retired lobsterman, learned how to read when he was 92 years old. At 94, James was inspired to write after hearing about George Dawson, a son of slaves who learned to read at age 98 and went on to write a book at age 101. At 96, James became a first-time author writing and publishing his autobiography.
