I've been asked what my 'flower avatar' would be. As much as I desperately wanted it to be the rose or jasmine, it's this one: an Oriental hybrid from California, she's freckled, prone to turning red, messy, and at times obnoxious. You rarely find her in fancy arrangements - more often she's lurking among downmarket flowers at the local super. (Also, I can find Polaris in a second. I love stargazing!)
